DOE Grant Hanford Workforce Education and Training Initiative DOE grant awarded in June –~$1M/year, renewable for five years. Focus is education in two areas: –CBC: Project Management (PM) –WSU-TC: Graduate Certificates & K-20 Education Graduate Certificates in Nuclear Engineering and Radiation Protection/Health Physics Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Pipeline (K-20) web portals and STEM marketing programs CBC is the Grant administrator 3AACE International - 4/17/2012

Other Grant Elements The grant also includes: Computer laboratory with 29 computers at CBC Scheduling software –Primavera and Microsoft ® Project 2010 Funding for: –Scholarships (~$97K per year) –Adjunct instructors –Peer mentors/tutors Outreach and retention activities 4AACE International - 4/17/2012

Progress PM Instructor hired in Sept Outreach/Retention Specialist hired in Mar Syllabi for nine 1 st & 2 nd year PM courses have been developed and approved by CBC Curriculum Committee (CC) in March Syllabi for six 3 rd & 4 th year PM courses have been developed and will be approved by the CC on April 18 th 29 new computers have been installed. 13AACE International - 4/17/2012

Progress Required PM Advisory Committee has been established to oversee curricula development. PM Stakeholder Committee of DOE, PNNL, and Hanford contractor PM practitioner representatives has been established and is providing input to the PM courses. Input from AACE International is being pursued. 14AACE International - 4/17/2012

Path Forward State Board approval of the nine 1 st and 2 nd year courses in May 2012 –Allows formal marketing of PM courses Submit six 3 rd and 4 th year courses to State Board by Fall 2012 for approval –Anticipate announcement of new BAS degree in Fall AACE International - 4/17/2012

Path Forward Conduct 1 st short-course, Lessons Learned from PM Case Studies on May Begin teaching PM courses in Summer/Fall 2012 Continue to develop and conduct short courses 16AACE International - 4/17/2012
