Using the INCOSE Handbook and SEBoK as THE Foundation for SECM-Domain John Watson

Proposal Previously we said other sources for the concept terms would be: The UML-4SE-RFP section of the SECM-Domain model The Oliver model that Rick produced The Use Cases Other external sources as they are made available Going forward, update to: Use the INCOSE Handbook and SEBoK as the initial source of concept terms for the SysML V2 RFP Go there first and harvest concept terms and definitions Then measure against other sources like UML 4SE RFP and other Ontology and It is expected: Other concept terms will need to be added The model of the Handbook/SEBok will reveal missing terms and inconsistencies that we will need to resolve

Justifications It is an internationally established SE Vernacular But not modeled INCOSE certifies SEs with the Handbook vernacular Provides an immediate creditable foundation to our work Release 4 of revisions of the INCOSE Handbook based on: ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288:2015 Inputs from INCOSE working groups To be consistent with SEBoK Leverages the existing bodies of work by other notable people, governments and organizations Multiple ISO/IEC/IEEE documents, e.g. 15288 and 29148 ANSI/AIAA documents Notable authors and their work CMMI, DoD, AiAA, ANSI, Forsberg INCOSE is internationally accepted Immediate integration with SE Workflow Use Case Model In citations we can reference section numbers for more detailed understanding without reproducing in model Will probably want to reproduce basic concept term definitions

Obstacle to using INCOSE Handbook See page v11 if version 4. May not be shared to non-INCOSE third party Need to request permission to reproduce in whole or prepare derivative works for external and/or commercial use Needs to be approved by INCOSE Administrative Office Present form can’t copy/paste text or diagrams
