In the calendar St. Francis Day (Christianity) This day celebrates St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals and the environment. Born Giovanni Francesco Bernardone in 1181, he fled a wealthy family to embrace a life of simplicity and poverty. He was known for his love of nature and all creatures. Many Christian churches welcome pets on the Feast of St. Francis to be blessed, and patrons reflect on the importance of all beings in creation.

Day trip to PEI with StFX Chaplaincy Saturday, October 22, 2011 StFX bus from Bloomfield Center 9am-10pm  travelling on Northumberland Ferry the Confederation Bridge touring Green Gables National Site Cavendish Beach visiting historic Charlottetown the provincial legislature (home of the birthplace of Canada), visit to UPEI Atlantic Veterinary College. Meals are on your own. Wear warm clothes. Invitation is open to students, faculty, staff, and administration of StFX.  Tickets are $50.00 from Fr.
