What is personification? Personification is a figurative speech where human qualities are given to animals,objects, or ideas.

Examples of personification 1.The avalanche devoured everything in its path. It’s saying that the avalanched devoured everything and devoured is a human qualities.

Examples of personification 2.The news took me by surprise. The news can’t took you by surprise so it's giving the news a human qualities

Examples of personification 3.The Monkey was begging for a slice of bread. It’s giving the monkey a human qualities which is begging.

ExampleS from THE texts Taken from Act I, Scene II of “Romeo and Juliet”. “When well-appareled April on the heel Of limping winter treads.” April cannot put on a dress, and winter does not limp.

Example #2 Katherine Mansfield wrote in her story “How Pearl Button Was Kidnapped”. “Pearl Button swung on the little gate in front of the House of Boxes.It was the early afternoon of a sunshiny day with little winds playing hide-and-seek in it.” It’s personifies the wind playing hide and seek.

Example #3 Alfred Edward Housman in his poem “Loveliest of Trees the Cherry Now” personifies the cherry tree. “Loveliest of trees,the cherry now Is hung with bloom along the bough, And stands about the woodland ride Wearing white for Eastertide. The Cherry tree wears white clothes to celebrate Easter.

Personification helps you become a better reader. It gives the writing life and Helps the reader connects with the object that is Personified.

Personification helps you become a better writer. It makes plain sentences more interesting when used Effectively .

IDENTIFYING PERSONIFICATION IN LITERATURE. Just think of the word “Person” when you think of Personification. If the author is describing a nonperson having human qualities that's personification.
