From the last week…(1) German EV incentives extended The German Federal Ministry of Economics has extended the purchase incentives for battery electric vehicles (BEVs), plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) and fuel cell vehicles (FCVs) until 2020. ‘We are extending the purchase premium for electric cars until the end of 2020, because we need continuity in support.’

From the last week…(2) Corsa & Grandland: VAUXHALL has released first images of the all-new Corsa-e, one of the most hotly-anticipated new cars to go on sale in 2019. As part of the brand’s PACE! strategic plan, Vauxhall’s Corsa-e and Grandland X PHEV will lead Vauxhall’s electric charge this year.

From the last week…(3) Hydrogen: The best alternative to internal combustion? Are electric vehicles (EVs) the best solution (to diesel & petrol) for all concerned? There is another technology available for development, albeit one which has been in its infancy for some time. Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles (FCVs) offer a long range, with a filling time equivalent to a petrol or diesel tank, and the only emission is H2O, otherwise known as water. So why is this technology not being rushed through like EVs are? What is a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle? A hydrogen fuel cell vehicle is just that, a vehicle with a hydrogen fuel cell on board. It is still an electric vehicle, but rather than a battery, the car features a fuel cell stack. Drivers fill up a high-pressure tank with hydrogen (gas), which is then fed into the stack, where it reacts with oxygen found naturally in the air and generates electricity.

From the last week…(4) EV battery life Data from Nissan shows the batteries used by its Leaf electric car will outlast the vehicle by 10-12 years, said Francisco Carranza, managing director of Renault-Nissan Energy Services. Nissan monitors everything from charging patterns to battery degradation on the more than 400,000 Leafs it has sold in Europe since launching the first generation in 2011. Based on the average life of a car at 10 years, Carranza put the battery life at 22 years. “We are going to have to recover those batteries,” Carranza told the Automotive News Europe Congress here on Wednesday. Nissan has been looking at ways to boost revenue from electric cars for itself and its customers as traditional revenue streams dry up in the switch from combustion cars to electric cars. “Aftersales revenue will massively suffer from electrification,” Carranza said.

From the last week…(5) Deloitte The UK will need 28,000 public charging points to accommodate the estimated seven million electric vehicles (EVs) in circulation by 2030, according to new analysis from Deloitte. Zap Map New figures from Zap-Map reveal the extent of the UK’s electric vehicle revolution, with the number of public charging locations now surpassing petrol stations for the first time. Data from Zap-Map shows that as of 22 May, there are 8,471 charging locations across the UK, hosting a total of 13,613 charging devices. In contrast, as of the end of April, there are currently only 8,400 petrol stations in the UK, a figure which is continuing to decline. There has been huge growth in the UK public EV charge point market in the past 12 months, with the number of locations increasing 57% in that time. The expanding network supports an increasing number of electric vehicles on the road, expanding from only 3.5k cars just six years ago, to more than 210k currently. Analysts forecast that by the end of 2022, at least 1 million EVs will be in use in the UK, a figure backed by government policy that looks to electrify all new cars and vans by 2040.

Thank you Any questions?
