Issues To Be Resolved Prior To WIG#1 July 2002 Issues To Be Resolved Prior To WIG#1 Meeting sessions Where, when, and how long Meeting Fee? Meeting Registration? Who can participate? How are the organizations invited? Which group within IEEE 802.11 hosts WIG? Erwin Noble, Philips

July 2002 GOAL for the First WIG Agree on scope and organizational working methods in addition to the production of a work plan. Erwin Noble, Philips

July 2002 WIG Scope Draft proposal (The wording is by no means the final proposal) To be an integral part in the production of a generically applicable interworking standard for WWAN and other public networks. The standard is to be applicable for IEEE 802.11 family, MMAC HiSWAN family, and ETSI HiperLAN/2 To be the point of resolution for ETSI, IEEE and MMAC on issues related to interworking with WWAN and other public networks. To be the single point of contact for the above mentioned WLAN standards on questions related to interworking with WWAN and other public networks. Erwin Noble, Philips

Status of WWAN/WLAN Work July 2002 Status of WWAN/WLAN Work A Presentation from ETSI BRAN & MMAC HSWA Scope Achievements Open Issues Erwin Noble, Philips

Rules of the Group Meeting Rules Approval Rules IPR Rules July 2002 Rules of the Group Meeting Rules Gentlemen’s agreement (Achieve consensus) Approval Rules Approvals should be achieved at the separate standardisation groups. All approved items are distributed to other participating groups. IPR Rules All docs will be subject to the existing IPR in all Standards Organizations. (e.g. an IPR Claim in WIG will be necessary to make the claim to IEEE, ETSI, and MMAC) Erwin Noble, Philips

Internal Interfaces How to exchange documents? July 2002 Internal Interfaces How to exchange documents? All organizations must have access to each others documents. (This is possible today) Lists of available and existing docs needs to be announced on email. How to communicate internally? Necessary to deploy a joint email reflector ETSI volunteers to host this? Erwin Noble, Philips

External Interface How to communicate with other bodies? July 2002 External Interface How to communicate with other bodies? The group needs a mandate given from each separate Standards Body to approve and issue statements on behalf of itself at any given time depending on approval through correspondence. on the joint email reflector Announcement must be made 5 working days prior to approval. Erwin Noble, Philips

Planning of Work Item for WIG July 2002 Planning of Work Item for WIG It will be necessary for the group to identify areas that needs to be resolved with an associated timeline. Contributions are strongly encouraged from all participants. Erwin Noble, Philips

Production of Official Statements July 2002 Production of Official Statements It must be the intention of the group to inform anybody, that may be interested in the work performed by WIG, that the establishment of this has taken place. The bodies that it are necessary to inform are: 3GPP 3GPP2 Wi-Fi Alliance WISPr H2GF GSM Association PASS ONE Erwin Noble, Philips
