M.A.D.E and CPB working Together 28th November 2018

We have been attending the board to work together to support improvements and developments for services for children looked after and this is what we have developed together

Local offer for Care Leavers

Bullying is an issue so we need support with this Education We Said….. Bullying is an issue so we need support with this Its hard to make friends when you don’t know how long you will be there for . Think about our lives as a whole, like our charter says…things impact on us so its hard to forget stuff when you are at school Help us to build trusting and lasting relationships with the adults in our lives so we have a named person to turn to Help us access activities inside and outside of school to help us with confidence, esteem and building good friendships

You have also formed a Virtual school council. Education You did….. You invited our Participation officer and Care leavers to the Designated teachers training to share our views about school You helped us to access Saturday morning revision and mentoring sessions and have sorted working with other teams an organizations to help us access fun and educational projects, such as Comic youth, Crafts workshops and Knowsley Libraries etc You have worked hard to improve the quality of the PEPs we complete which shares our views and feelings about school and our future. You arranged the Duke of Edinburgh for us and its helped some of us achieve Bronze and silver DoE awards You have also formed a Virtual school council.

Placements We Said….. Its hard being independent young so help us learn how Help Care leavers to live happy in their own home Recruit more carers and support them to learn about us and us them. Listen to us and try to understand us as individuals - don’t compare us. We want the place we live in to feel like home We want support to know the area we live in and for you to consider what its like living in our shoes. We want to live in good accommodation in good areas. We want to be motivated, supported and encouraged to get out and get involved in activities and groups. We want to be supported to see the people we care about such as friends and family.

Placements You did….. You have started planning activities to support us to learn independence skills. You have formed a Local offer this year which will help support Care leavers with their transition to independence You have recruited more carers this year and you have asked for MADE and other children to get involved. You have made Corporate parents accountable this year and encouraged them to work better together to help our children and Care leavers. This will help us for the future. The Art/placements team have improved the quality of the referral form for new placements MADE have started working closely with Fostering and hope to support training needs in 2019.

Emotional health & wellbeing We Said….. We want everyone who works with us to consider our happiness We want good support from people who we feel comfortable talking to, on our time We want our Corporate parents to understand what its like for kids in care We want opportunities to live, learn , make mistakes and grow We want to have access to activities , groups in the community and leisure facilities We want ‘Contact’ renamed and we want support to help children understand what it is as well as a focus on this time being ‘a happy memory’ We want to have longer transitions when things change as changes happen too fast sometimes. We want a key and trusted person who we can go to for support We don’t want to tell strangers our problems and we don’t want to repeat ourselves.

You listened to what we had to say and valued our voice Emotional health & wellbeing You did….. You planned for the Corporate parenting board to have the theme of happiness throughout each meeting You will support us to access emotional health services in a more comfortable way for us as individuals You listened to what we had to say and valued our voice You produced ‘My memoires’ You supported us to access more projects and groups with kids in care this year You renamed contact to family time and you have planned to change how this is facilitated, and how this is discussed in meetings with us You said that we should have longer transitions . You have tried to recruit more carers this year , and asked us to get involved
