Building Your Budget: Vocabulary Gross: Total before expenses Net: Total after expenses Funding Source: A grant, restricted donation, or other source of income that is tracked Unrestricted Income: Membership, business donations, and other income that is not restricted by the agreement or donor to a specific program Program: Type of service or work being provided – ie, stewardship or educational outreach Project: An individual event, like a Leave No Trace workshop

Year-End Compliance Reminders Taxes Due annually, based on your fiscal year schedule Fiscal year Jan 1 – Dec 31 due May 15 (with approved extensions available until Aug 15 and Nov 15) Form depends on gross receipts/expenditures for organizations <$50,000 – e-Postcard 990N <$200,000 – 990EZ (*assets less than $500,000) >$200,000 and assets more than $500,000 – full 990 Annual Reporting requirements Set up a shared calendar Read through your agreements and make sure you know when reports are due Department of Interior: Annual SF-425s Again, ask for advice!
