Presentation transcript:

LO1 Mood board - The purpose of a mood board is to help make new ideas and to show the feel of a product. The content of a mood board is text/slogan, photographs/images, fonts, colours and graphics. A mood board is a suitable choice because it can be used for showing colours and images about a subject and can show what other people have done before. Mind maps - The purpose of a mind map is to show the content of a product and the range of equipment needed. The content of a mindmap is suitable text, lines, central idea, nodes and subnodes. Visualisation - The purpose of a visualisation is to see a product (website/DVD cover etc) in visual form. The content of a visualisation is title, logo, image, colours, fonts and annotation. A visualisation is a suitable choice because it allows an easy visual view of the product. Script - The purpose of a script is for video production, voiceover, comic books or computer games. The content of a script is speech, set, directions and characters. A script is a suitable choice because it can have extra items not included in a storyboard asthere is more space for extra details. Storyboard - The purpose of a storyboard is a visual plan of a video or animation. The content of a storyboard is timings, camera shots, camera angle, lighting and sound effects. A storyboard is a suitable choice because it is easier to relate to than text, you can see the timeline easily and can include camera angles. Camera shot examples - close up, mid shot and long shot. Camera angle examples - over the shoulder, low angle and aerial. Camera movement examples - pan, tilt and zoom.

LO2 Client requirements - a client discussion or written brief can be used to define the clients product requirements. Target audience - has many aspects which should be thought about: age, gender, ethnicity, income and location. Violence, foul language and sexual content may affect the age rating of a product. Research - needs to be carried out with the target audience before a product is made. There are two types of source used for this research. Primary source - is information gathered from a meeting or questionnaire. Secondary source - is information gathered from a website or book. Work plan - should also include: resources such as power supplies, time scales such as client deadlines and activities such as agreeing a budget. Contingencies - need to be included in a work plan when creating products. A contingency is used to plan for unexpected events such as bad weather. Timeline of work plan - the project needs to be completed a certain date so the timeline will need to work back from this with key dates leading up to this. Hardware - Scanners, visualisers, cameras and web cameras are examples of hardware that can be used to capture images or digitise paper pre-production documents. Software - word processing, presentation and image editing software can be used to create pre-production documents. Copyright - when using copyrighted material you must contact the owner of the material to ask for permission to use it. You must also make sure that the copyrighted material is clearly marked with ©, year and author. Trademark - contact owner of logo to obtain permission to use it. Acknowledge permission from owner of logo and include TM symbol

LO2 Health & Safety - the risks to your health when using a computer are headaches, tripping over cables and back strain. The measures for lowering these risks are taking regular breaks, tying the cables and using an adjustable chair. Privacy - In order to protect user privacy you can require a username and password. Defamatory comment - a false statements that may harm the reputation of an individual/group. Data Protection Act Data collection – any data collected must be correct, must have been collected for a stated purpose and have the owners permission. Data Storage – any data stored must be up to date, must be stored securely and must not be passed to other organisations. Non compliance – not following the Data Protection Act could mean that you are fined or sued. Digital accessibility – a diverse target audience may have visual problems so the product will need to use contrasting colours that allow people to read the text easily. The product could detect what device it is being viewed on and will load a different version. The product could take in account the default language of the user and offer the option for that language. Gender should be considered so the content and colours scheme needs to appeal to all genders. It should be easy to read for the younger members/ less literate members of the audience. Recce - the purpose is to look at the location and see what needs to be filmed and to check camera shots. It can also check noise levels and lighting issues. Risk assessment - the purpose is to check what safety issues there may be and to identify measures to be taken to minimise risks. The reason for a risk assessment is to ensure employee safety because the employer is responsible for the safety of workers.

LO3 Naming conventions and version control – of files can be used to organise and track updated files. Naming files V1, V2 etc. will stop confusion with older versions. Properties and limitations of file formats for still images – a suitable image file format could include: tiff, jpg, gif or png. A png format retains transparency so can be used on various background colours easily. Also png files are small in size so can be downloaded quickly. Properties and limitations of file formats - when deciding file formats you might consider the file size of the graphic as they might need to be downloaded and if they are too large they will take too long to download. You might also consider the quality of the graphic which might need to be high enough so it will not be pixelated. Create a mood board – Create a mind map –

LO3 File formats - consider the file size of the graphic . If they are downloaded and are too large they will take too long to download. Consider the quality of the graphic if it is not high enough it will be pixelated. Image file formats include: Tiff is uncompressed and so is high quality. Jpg is compressed but can still be saved in a high quality format. Png is lossless and easy to re-edit as layers are maintained. It transparency so can be used on various background and colours easily. Also png files are small in size so can be downloaded quickly Audio file formats include: mp3, mp4 or wav. Video file format include: mov, mpg or mp4. Create a storyboard – Create a script –

LO3 Lossy compression - reduces the size of a file so you can store more files on a device. However, some of the data is lost and it can reduce the quality of the file. TV - HD 1080 has a high resolution for use on large screens HD 720 is compatible with existing TV standards MPEG4 is compatible with browsers and computers and has a small file size Avi is playable on an internet browser Mov is high quality from digital cameras Internet - Gif is playable in internet browsers RealG2 is easily downloadable Create a visualisation –

LO4 Reviewing pre-production documents (Mind map, mood board, visualisation, storyboard & script) Include 5 good (positive) points (with reasons), 5 bad (negative) points (with reasons) and 5 areas for improvement (justified). Consider: Content - images, fonts and text Layout Clarity Colours Whitespace Annotation Suitability for target audience - language, colours Purpose Client
