Example A ELSA Group A organises Free Legal Advice sessions at Community Centres once every fortnight in collaboration with their Law School. They alternate between five community centres in the city and neighbouring villages. The students volunteer their time, and instead the ELSA Group reimburses their travel and provides refreshments. Promotional materials, roller banners and certificates account for additional expenses. Is ELSA Group A eligible for EDF funding? How would you pitch an application?

Example B ELSA Group B is organising a project called “Introduction to Arbitration.” The project consists of a seminar series in which solicitors practising international commercial arbitration give trainings relevant to their field of work over the span of a five week period. The series ends with a competition in which the participants represent the opposing sides in a fictional case before an arbitral tribunal. The winning team each receive cash prizes and the best oralist receives a one day’s work experience at a specialist law firm. A prosecco reception is hosted after the event in which participants can network with the solicitors involved. All participants receive certificates. Is ELSA Group B eligible for EDF funding? How would you pitch an application?

Example C ELSA Group C is organising an international study and institutional visit to Luxembourg. They will be visiting the European Court of Justice and meeting with a Justice of the Court. Members of ELSA Group C have been conducting a Legal Research Group comparing the jurisprudence of English courts and the CJEU in issues related to environmental law. They will also be arranging meetings with ELSA Luxembourg who are organising an academic and social programme for the participants. Accommodation is at a city hotel and breakfast, lunch and dinner catering is included in the participation fee. Is ELSA Group B eligible for EDF funding? How would you pitch an application?
