Social Issues and Ministry Faith – Justice - Action

Why? As followers of Jesus, the church has a unique opportunity to address the needs of our communities in ways that reflect God’s Kingdom values: radical love, positive peace, radical hospitality, reconciliation.

Book of Discipline “The annual conference may elect a Social Issues and Ministries Committee to assist churches in seeking: Justice for All Showing Mercy to the Poor Empowering the Disenfranchised Maintaining Openness and Sensitivity to the Social Problems of all Ages, Races, and Gender.

What We Will Do: Articulate to the annual conference the denomination’s position on social issues and study and recommend resolutions for general conference. Communicate to the societies and to the public the denomination’s positions on social issues Organize the resources of the conference, both human and material, to assist the society in seeking justice for all, showing mercy to the poor, and empowering the disenfranchised.

Align our WORDS with ACTION “We are committed to the worth of all humans regardless of gender, race, color, or any other distinctions (Acts 10:34- 35) and will respect them as persons made in the image of God (Genesis 1:26-27) and redeemed by Christ’s death and resurrection.” ~ Book of Discipline
