Present simple. Form. Is the base form of a verb, e.g. play, know, take. EXAMPLE: You know the answer. In the 3rd person (he, she, it) we add –s, -es, -ies. EXAMPLE: Tom knows the answer. / My sister washes the dishes. / The mosquito flies.
Affirmative, negative, question form. AFFIRMATIVE: I/you/they play He/she/it plays NEGATIVE: I/you/we/they don’t play He/she/it doesn’t play QUESTIONS: Do I/you/ we/they play? Does he/she/it play?
Uses Routine: I play hockey everyday. Facts The sun shines. Present state (feeling or opinion) Barbara likes english.

USES Present action over a period of time. She is waiting for the bus. They are having dinner. We are studying right now. My dog is sleeping on the couch. Present actions that are not necesarilly going on at the momento of speaking. I’m reading that book too!
Present simple vs. Present continuous. A routine or habit: We eat at school everyday. A state or a fact: My dad loves cheeseburguers. We need a new car. Two and two makes four. Something we are in the middle of: We are eating at school today, but we usually eat at home.
