Tuesday 5/21/19 Bell Ringer: Review your two column notes on factors that affect regional climate. What factors do you think cause Helena to get less rain than Seattle? Explain why you think this. Seattle average annual precipitation = 34.1 inches Helena average annual precipitation = 11.12 inches

Factors that Affect Regional Climates Elevation Latitude Ocean Currents Winds Rain Shadow Effect

Climate Climate is the average weather of a place over years. The climate of a region is described based on: Temperature Precipitation There are a variety of climate types

Cause of Regional Climates I can write a scientific argument to explain factors that influence regional climates.

Patterns? A patterns is the regular and repeated way in which something happens. What patterns in precipitation does this map show us? Answer questions #1-3. Now answer questions #4-7. Earth scientists observe and try to understand weather patterns (aka climate) and the causes of those patterns. For example: What causes the pattern of some areas on the South American Pacific Coast get a lot of rain and others get very little? The scientists will then look for patterns in the factors that impact the amount of rain.
