Cute Food Project

Your assignment is to create a Kawaii food or object. We will use the Japanese art style of Kawaii art as inspiration. Kawaii translates into the word “Cute” in English.

Some requirements for changing a regular object into a kawaii object. Simple shapes Big shining eyes with 2 white dots U shaped smile or open mouth. Simple colors Shortened legs and arms Cute accessories Thick black outline

Here is an example

Objectives: Kawaii Thing Black eyes with 2 shiny white dots Simple shapes Al least 1 accessories Thick black outline Simplified mouth Simple colors Pink Cheeks No less than 20 shapes Must be your own original designs (this does not mean you cant use stuff from the internet as examples, just do not copy them exactly)

Here are some fruit examples

Here are some breakfast examples

Do some research. look up 3 different objects or food you would like to try Draw it out in a simplified way mostly using shapes I need you to sketch out 3 different ideas you have Show them to Mr. Dodds to get credit. Pick your favorite/best kawaii drawing and digitize it.

Let me do some examples on the board First I will do a food Then I will do an animal Then I will do something roughly humanoid

Both your Kawaii project, and your 10+ object will be due At the end of class on Friday 2/8 If you finish early you are required to do a second object. This can either be another kawaii object of another object of your choosing. Or If you have not started using the pen tool you make get a head start on that. Watch video 4: Find a simple cartoon object or character, download it, and pen tool all its separate parts. I will be having a contest. Send me your best objects or kawaii that are of non-copy written things. I will pick the top 2 from each class and print them up as stickers for the winners.
