Selling Flood Insurance July, 2007

The Market Opportunity Many people learn too late that most homeowners policies exclude any coverage for the peril of flood Recent disasters – including Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and Wilma as well as flooding in New England, Western NY and Pennsylvania – have increased awareness of the need for Flood insurance About 25% of all flood insurance claims are paid on homes in low to moderate risk areas* Flood insurance is a product your customers need. Selling flood insurance is an easy way for you to upsell/account round your customer. *Source: National Flood Insurance Program

Agency Benefits of Selling Flood Insurance through Travelers Increase agency retention. The more products a customer has with the agency, the less likely they are to leave. Protection from an E&O exposure. Failing to offer flood coverage, or worse, advising a customer that they do not need a flood insurance policy, could result in an E&O claim if an uninsured flood loss occurs Professional, free, marketing materials. Travelers offers appealing, professionally produced brochures, postcards, and other collateral, at not charge to you, to help you sell Flood insurance and grow your business.

Customer Benefits Home policies won’t provide protection for losses that occur due to floods. One out of every four floods occur in low risk areas. Many more occur in moderate risk areas. Flood policies are not just for homes on the coast or near rivers. Superior Claim Service. Many Travelers adjusters have been trained to handle Flood claims and our third party adjusters have been pre-approved by Travelers only when they meet stringent quality standards. To make the cost of flood insurance even more affordable, Travelers offers all of the NFIP increased deductible options which provide premium discounts.

Grow Your Business with Flood Insurance Account round your Personal Insurance customers with Flood insurance. Account round your existing Business Insurance customers by letting them know they can purchase flood insurance that protects their commercial building and business property. Share these important facts with your customers: Approximately 25% of flood insurance claims come from low risk areas. Flooding occurs in every state and can occur at any time of year. Federal disaster relief is available only if a federal disaster is declared, which occurs in less than half of all floods. Federal disaster relief is usually a partial recovery in the form of a loan. Six out of 10 Presidentially declared disasters involve flooding.
