Connecting You to the Alliance: A virtual community for HIV vaccine research and development CHVI R&D Alliance Virtual Community (Alliance VC)

1. What is a Virtual Community? 2. Why YOU should belong? 3. How to access the Virtual Community? Presentation Objectives

Communities of Practice (CoP) are: groups of people who share a concern, a set of problems, or a passion about a topic, and who deepen their knowledge and expertise in this area by interacting on an on-going basis (Wenger, McDermott, & Snyder, 2002, p.4). Virtual Communities of Practice (VCoP), without excluding F2F rely primarily on Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to connect their members What is a Virtual Community?

The Canadian HIV Vaccine Initiative (CHVI) Research and Development Alliance Virtual Community (Alliance VC) is a confidential internet-based community designed for researchers to collaborate, communicate and share research and to seek information about Canadas contribution to the global development of an HIV vaccine.
