Presentation transcript:

Their needs to be a leader and a follower The leader must lead well The follower must follow well

1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, because this is right. 2 Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with a promise, 3 so that it may go well with you and that you may have a long life in the land. 4 Fathers, don’t stir up anger in your children, but bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord. Ephesians 6:1-4

Parenting Responsibility #1 Train your children to submit to earthly authority Children don’t naturally obey. Children naturally pick and choose when to obey. Children will be more likely to obey their heavenly authority if they have been trained to obey their earthly authorities.

Parenting Responsibility #2 Don’t let your anger lead the way you discipline your children. Fathers, don’t stir up anger in your children, but bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord. Ephesians 6:4

Parenting Responsibility #3 Your #1 goal is to raise your children to follow God. Ephesians 6:4 Bring children up in the training and instruction of the Lord. Malachi 2:15 What does God seek for the family? Godly children.

Ephesians 6:5-9 For EMPLOYEES to FOLLOW WELL, they must: obey their boss/direct report work hard even when no one is watching work for their boss as if they were serving for Jesus For EMPLOYERS to LEAD WELL, they must: treat their employees “the same way.” not threaten their employees remember that God doesn’t show favoritism

Vocation: “vocal;” your calling. Occupation: “occupy;” what occupies your time. Our vocation, as Christians, is to follow God; our vocation is primary. The things that occupy our time are simply ways that we live out our vocation; they are secondary.
