ADVANCED INFANTRY TRAINING BATTALION SCHOOL OF INFANTRY – EAST ADVANCED MORTARMAN COURSE PREP-GUIDE 1. The purpose of this Program of Instruction is to provide advanced mortar skills to 0341s serving as a mortar squad/section leader, forward observer, or a member of a Fire Direction Center (FDC). This course emphasizes technical and procedural ability. Additionally, the student will be able to make tactical recommendations about mortar employment in offensive and defensive operations.. 2. 0300 1000 Level T&R events 0300 CMBH 1001-1004 0300 COMM 1001-1006 0300 COND 1001 0300 DEF 1001-1003 0300 DEMO 1002-1003 0300 M16 1005,1007,1010,1017 0300 M203 1001-1005 0300 MED 1001 0300 MOUT 1001-1002 0300 OFF 1001 0300 OPT 1001 0300 PAT 1001-1012 0300 WPNS 1001-1005, 1007 0341 1000 Level T&R events 0341 60mm 1001-1008 0341 81mm 1001-1005 0341 WPNS 1001-1009 It is recommended that students attending this course be evaluated on these events within 60 days of the course convene date. Future students should emphasize on land navigation, patrolling, and communications. Marines attending need to be familiarized with the above events with in the past 6 months

ADVANCED INFANTRY TRAINING BATTALION SCHOOL OF INFANTRY – EAST ADVANCED MORTARMAN COURSE PREP-GUIDE 3 . Marines attending the course need to be familiarized with MCDP-1, mission analysis (METT-T), and the orders process. The course has a focus of fighting peer enemies and developing the Marines that attend into a critical thinker, fighter leader, and mortar leader. 4. This prep-guide intentionally mirrors the required Command Screening Checklist(CSC), but does not replace it. In order to be accepted to the course, students are required to physically possess the CSC on the convening date. 5.
