Why is the “Latter End” Worse? How some who become Christians end up worse off than they were to begin with. 2 Peter 2:20-22; Hebrews 6:4-9

Were the people described in 2 Peter 2:20-22 ever really saved? Peter says… They had “escaped” Their situation had since gotten “worse”. They were “again entangled” (implying that they had been free) They had known “the way of righteousness” It IS possible to have salvation and lose it! (Galatians 5:4; 2 Chronicles 15:1-2; 2 Timothy 2:12-13)

Why was their “latter end” worse? Because of what they did to Jesus AGAIN! (Hebrews 6:4-6; 10:29) Because the heart becomes harder. (Hebrews 6:4-6; 3:12-15; 1 Timothy 4:1-2) Because they have no excuse. (Hebrews 6:4-8) Because their punishment will be severe. (Hebrews 6:8; 10:26-31; Luke 12:47-48) Because they’ve gone back to what is filthy, repulsive and sickening. (Proverbs 26:11; Romans 1:26-32)
