What is the SHRM Pinnacle Award? Designed to honor outstanding leadership & reward professional excellence in the HRM field. Recognizes innovative projects created and implemented by SHRM affiliates. Special consideration given to successful programs readily transferable to other affiliates. Winners selected using established Standards of Excellence & recognized at the VLS.

Eligibility To be eligible for 2018 award consideration an affiliate must: Submit the 2017 SHAPE Year-End Report. Meet all minimum requirements to be a SHRM chapter or state council “in good standing.” NOTE: If your affiliate won a Pinnacle Award for a project since 2013, that award-winning project is ineligible for re-submission in 2018, even if the program is ongoing.
Award Levels Small Chapters (10 to 100 members) Medium & Large Chapters (101 to 500 members) Mega & SuperMega Chapters (500+ members) State Councils SHRM VOLUNTEER LEADERS’ SUMMIT | 2015 Chapters and state councils are encouraged submit award entries for programs developed and implemented collaboratively. However, additional programs may not be submitted by these affiliates, as the joint initiative meets the “one entry per chapter or state council” submission limit.
Award Categories Serving HR Professionals Advancing the HR Profession Enhancing the SHRM Community
Serving HR Professionals Activities that support and promote professionals with HR responsibility to be successful business leaders. May be related to certification, professional learning, or skills development.
Advancing the HR Profession Creates awareness of or supports key constituents including the workplace, government and regulatory representatives, employers, schools, media and the community at large. Activities may be programs around outreach & awareness, government or public affairs, diversity & inclusion or workforce readiness.
Enhancing the SHRM Community Programs & services that support SHRM, meet members’ needs or further the affiliate’s efforts. Activities may include efforts to foster member engagement, retention and acquisition, volunteer development and recognition or support the SHRM Foundation
Submission Process Web-based application Submission deadline is 11:59 p.m. on September 9th, 2018 SHRM VOLUNTEER LEADERS’ SUMMIT | 2015
Selection Process Internal and external selection committees select one winner from each award level and award category Judging is based on Standards of Excellence Winners receive $1,000 grants and a variety of recognition from SHRM SHRM VOLUNTEER LEADERS’ SUMMIT | 2015
