Revision – what does that look like? Revision has become a swear word to Y11! We’ve been using the phrase “how are you going to remember this?”

You’re simply the _____ Ain’t no __________ high enough How good are you at remembering? Ain’t no __________ high enough ET _____ home

How do we remember? This is why low level disruption has such a negative impact upon learning.

Draw a picture of a house (1 minute) Humour me…. Draw a picture of a house (1 minute)

Curtains in the window = 3 marks Front door = 1 mark It’s always easier to do better on a question when you have the full instructions! Each window = 1 mark Curtains in the window = 3 marks Front door = 1 mark Door knob = 3 marks Chimney = 1 mark Smoke coming out the chimney = 3 marks Satellite dish = 5 marks

Lots of students miss this bit!

How can we help them remember things?

How many CD’s are there?

How many black clips are there?

Revision folder check Majority of Y10 summary sheets are missing Y10 summary sheets for each subject Summaries have been annotated and divided into labelled sections Notes / flashcards / mindmap / some indication that they have reviewed their work! Create a revision timetable – 30 minute chunks with treats / rests timetabled RAG rate the topic summaries and start with the “red” bits! Use mind maps to link ideas Flashcards – can make these online (Quizlet) Summarise notes, using increasingly less text with each successive summary Draw colourful diagrams and annotate them Stick post it notes / posters around the house Revision guides and work booklets Revision APPS (GOJIMO is FREE!) Podcasts Past exam papers + mark schemes (+ examiners reports)

Everyone trying their best, to be their best.
