United Nations Environment Programme Regional Office for West Asia – Compliance Assistance Programme (CAP) Mission of UNEPs Regional Offices UNEP implement its strategy in 6 key areas: 1. Reinforce UNEPs position as the catalyst of environment for development in the Regions. 2. Build regional capacity for environmental management and sustainable development. 3. Produce environmental assessments to set the agenda for decision-making processes. 4. Lead the development of key responses to the major environmental challenges in the Region. 5. Assisted Yemen in the development of National strategy & action plan of Hazardous waste under Basel Convention. Promote the ratifications of Stockholm & Rotterdam Conventions, and UNFCCC (Kyoto Protocol). Co-organized of several regional workshops on chemicals management with UNEP/Chemicals. Work with the Arab technical team on MEAs for development of regional concerning the management of chemicals. Work with CAMRE to promote the Mercury Global Programme.
