Market Channels & Price Gap Farmers Commission Agent at the Mandi- Wholesaler / Mandi Retailers Retailers Consumers S.No Stakeholder on the value chain Value Added Price Realization 1 Farmer/Vegetable Cultivator Production of the Commodity and preliminary grading Initial price varies with each commodity. 2 Commission Agent at the Mandi Conducts the trade at the Mandi and facilitates instant payment to the farmers 5% of the produce cost. This 5% is borne by producer in Azadpur Mandi whereas Buyer in the Karnal, Panipat Mandi. 3 Wholesaler/ Mandi Retailers Grading and Sorting of the Produce On an average, the produce is sold after a 20-100% hike. 4 Retailers Delivers the produce to the end consumer 50% to 300% hike depending upon the market situation Although farmers in the study region are able to sell all their produce but are not getting remunerative price due to lack of primary processing and lack of a well-managed market intelligence system.
