Aims of twinning

To extend the network of expertise Priority regions and diseases Global geographical coverage of expertise, focused on developing and transition countries Better global disease surveillance Greater access for more countries to high quality diagnostics and expertise for early detection and rapid response Build and maintain veterinary scientific communities in Candidate countries

Each Twinning Project.. A link between an OIE Reference Laboratory or Collaborating Centre (Parent) and a National Laboratory (Candidate) Should be sustainable Needs full support of Vet Services

Scope Surveillance, detection and control of animal diseases (inc. zoonoses) A specific horizontal sphere of competence e.g. epidemiology, veterinary medicinal products Biosafety, biosecurity, quality assurance and good laboratory practices are integral Each project 1-3 years

Scope Compliance with OIE International Standards Ultimate aim to become an OIE Reference Laboratory or Collaborating Centre Mutually beneficial and collaborative research opportunities
