Lenses

What is a Lens? A transparent object, usually made of glass, that uses refraction to bend light Used in glasses, hand lenses, cameras, telescopes, binoculars, microscopes

Convex Lenses A lens with at least one surface that curves outward Light goes to one point called the “focal point” Farsighted people use convex lenses

Concave Lenses A lens with at least one surface that curves inward Light spreads out from the lens Nearsighted people use concave lenses

What type of lens is this?

What type of lens is this? Concave because the light is spreading out from the lens.

What type of lens is this?

What type of lens is this? Convex because the light is going towards one point.
