Coordinator Training Fall 2019-20 MAP Coordinator Training Fall 2019-20

Session Outcomes Review Assessment, Data, & Evaluation (ADE) resources Review test administration processes Illustrate what’s new in MAP for 2019-20

Data.dmschools.org Go to data.dmschools.org to get to the ADE website On this homepage you can download testing calendars for this year. Hover over testing and select MAP

Scroll down the MAP page to see dates for testing and the tests students should take. Additional MAP resources are further down the page. The two that are most likely to be needed are the MAP Growth Coordinator Checklist and the Proctor Quick Sheet. The Proctor Quick Sheet has been updated to include the new auto-pause feature in MAP.

New for 2019 Auto-Pause Tests will not be invalidated if students rush through 30% or more of the test. Tests will be paused automatically to allow for the proctor to attempt to intervene with the student. The student will not be able to continue testing until the proctor resumes the test. The remaining slides are taken from NWEA’s Student_Engagement_Part_2 presentation.

screen is not final and subject to change Auto-Pause Most tests will pause when a student has rapid-guessed on multiple questions Both student & proctor are notified Pauses three times during a test session  Proctor can reengage and resume or suspend the test

New downloads & more screen is not final and subject to change Proctor console Before: Download the new test session tips PDF that includes a script to read to students During: View rapid- guessing information on the console throughout the test After: Download new test session summary details (PDF or data file) before ending the test session The PDF with the script to read is downloadable from the proctors test session view. The proctor can click on Download PDF and read the opening statement. Students who have been paused for rapid guessing can be resumed from the teacher’s computer or from entering the PIN on the students screen. The PIN should not be shared with students Downloading the test details is optional and may be helpful. As of yet we have not seen an example of this.

Test session view screen is not final and subject to change Proctor Console Test session information shows # of rapid guesses while student is still testing # of guesses will change to percentage once test is completed Red (!) icon next to instances of excessive rapid guessing

Find students to test screen is not final and subject to change Easier retesting Use Test History Search in the “Find Students to Test” section to generate a list of students who reached the 30 percent rapid- guessing threshold. Select Manage Test Sessions. Select Find Students to Test. Select the Test History Search tab. Use the menus to narrow your search by school, grade, instructor, or class as desired. From the Test(s) drop down menu, select a test name. Under Testing Status, select the appropriate option:

Easier retesting Batch-assign students to a test screen is not final and subject to change Easier retesting Proctors will be able to easily batch-assign students from this list to a new test (provided the district allows retesting).

Assessment, Data, & Evaluation Guidance Rapid Guessing Assessment, Data, & Evaluation Guidance Follow NWEA’s protocol for rapid guessing When the student reaches the third pause you can choose to: Resume the student’s test and allow them to finish. Suspend the student’s test and have them finish at a later time. Suspend the student’s test and have them restart the test from the beginning.

New & existing Reports A new report will show only students who reached or exceeded the 30 percent threshold for excessive rapid guessing The Grade Breakdown and Student Profile reports will continue to show rapid- guessing information The new report is accessible to the administrator, district assessment coordinator, and school assessment coordinator
