Why are Credentials important It allows servicemembers to demonstrate to their potential employers that they possess the necessary skill and experience for a particular job. Some states and organizations may require specific certificate or license to legally perform some jobs. For example, being a Corpsman in the Navy might not be enough to be a Medical Assistant in the civilian world. Credentials improves a transition member’s prospects of a job opportunity.
Licensure A form of credentialing granting permission to practice a specific occupation. Examples include doctors, electricians, building contractors, therapists and nurses. They are typically mandatory and are mostly required by states Steps to obtain a license include completing a specified training, logging a designated amount of work experience and/or taking an exam.
Certifications Demonstrates unique skills and abilities. May be granted by a non-governmental agency, associations or private companies. Individuals must meet certain requirements and predetermined qualifications in order to receive a certificate It may not be mandatory but definitely gives you an edge over other applicants!
Apprenticeship Apprenticeship means an arrangement that includes a paid-work component and an educational or instructional activity which allows a member to attain skills and experience. Provide necessary workplace experience and opportunities that employer(s) value. They are great paths to good jobs and careers.
