Coach and Team  Jen Kiel Preventing Burnout Coach and Team  Jen Kiel

Coach FLL-Life Balance, find it. This seems like a duh statement, but many lose sight, and remember, we are supposed to be setting a good example for our team members. How many adults are helping you? Get others invested, to share the load. I would refer to Laura’s Volunteer recruitment slides.  How many teams are you managing? Plan the Season, week by week, practice by practice, and stick to the plan! Planning is important for team financial and resource sustainability as well. Please refer to the Doolittle Institute’s sustainability plan, https://doolittleinstitute.org/wp- content/uploads/2019/08/Sustainability-Plan-FIRST-Teams_2019.docx Let the team, and encourage the team, to do as much as possible! Of course we do not want to see them fail, but it truly is supposed to be a part of the process. The kids do the work.  Consider letting the teams meet at someone’s house, supervised by a parent, to do things like plan and package giveaways, and discuss and build props for project presentations, again, sharing the load……see a theme here? It is worth repeating, that this is naturally a fun an exciting community, bring others into the fold! Consider having a coaching team (project coach, core values coach, and robot coach), again lightens the load.

Team Create social times where they are not talking about robots, for example, escape room, pool party, or any other fun team building activity. Challenge the team to get out of their comfort zone on robot build, programming, and project presentation. Continue to show them why all of this is relevant!  Stress and emulate the Core Values
