The Akron Experience Career and Academic Planning Community and Civic Engagement Academic Foundation Awards, Recognition & Zips Pride Health and Wellness The Akron Experience will provide our graduates with 21st Century skills in a unique learning environment. It begins before they enroll and lasts throughout their lives. All aspects of the Akron Experience here; focus today – Career and Academic Planning Global and Cultural Awareness Leadership and Teamwork

In an effort to make this happen, at least 75% of our students need to complete a relevant learning experience, preferably paid. A paid opportunity can help reach our ultimate goal of minimal post-graduate loan indebtedness

Graduation Survey began in May 2012 - Relevant, Career Related Experiences Experiential Learning Courses Only – 7.5% of total student population; 17% of Juniors and Seniors Current focus – student data For students in the 2003-04-05 new first-time, full-time freshmen cohorts we see an 84% (!) six-year graduation rate if they took an internship or co-op course (one of the “FLD” courses noted below) compared to a 36% six-year graduation rate for the entire combined cohort.   Looking at students taking any type of experiential learning class (from the list below) over the last three academic years we see that on average 7.4% of undergraduates engage in experiential learning during a given year.  This has increase slightly: 09-10 = 6.9% 10-11 = 7.7% 11-12 = 7.5% 17% of juniors and seniors take an experiential learning course in a given year.

Thank you!
