SR Update for JLEIC June 8, 2017 M. Sullivan

Outline Where we left off after the Collaboration meeting Photon files Detector simulation work (Yulia Furletova) Worked on FCC SR issues in May Present design looks like it should work at all beam energies Highest beam energy (Top mass = 175 GeV) is the most difficult – like the JLEIC

After the collaboration meeting Yulia and I connected and I created a file of photons that had scattered from the mask tip 1 m upstream from the IP She was able to read the file and use it as input to a GEANT4 model of the detector Detector design details now become important in order to accurately calculate SR backgrounds and to design shielding

FCC Week May 28 – Jun 2 Spent most of May working on results for the FCC week and the end of the month Have found that SR backgrounds can be controlled for all machine energies including the Top energy (175 GeV) The top beam energy is the most difficult The Z and WW beam energies have no measurable backgrounds from SR

Next steps Connect with Yulia again and see if the photon file is working as expected Detector design is now important for further studies This will include iteration on the beam pipe as well IR magnet designs are also now needed to make sure the beam pipe is OK
