Amendment to Vancouver Municipal Code Title 20 pertaining to RV and Boat parking and design standards parking in residential areas March 22, 2016 Vancouver Planning Commission Public Hearing Larry Vasquez, Permit Manager Greg Turner, Land Use Manager DESIGN NOTES: Do not move text, logo or transparent black boxes any further out towards the edges of the slide. Presentation overview and background Staff reviewed code inconsistencies and propose code amendment to resolve. Planning Commission requested staff to propose clarifying Title 20 code language and to consider other visual demarcations for measuring setbacks. DESIGN NOTES: Add the presentation title to the little footer in the lower right corner on all pages. Do not move the text blocks or logo any further out towards the edges of the slide. VMC 20.945.040.D Recommended Amendment D. Location. Parking spaces shall not be permitted in any setback except as otherwise specified in this title. For single-family and duplex dwellings, passenger vehicle parking in excess of required parking is permitted in the front yard setback provided it is: located on a legally established driveway; located out of sight triangles as per 20.895 VMC; and does not extend into City right-of-way. Parking in the front yard setback otherwise allowed by this Chapter shall not include the storage of motor homes, trailers or recreational vehicles, including boats. Parking of motor homes, trailers recreational vehicles and boats is also allowed in one side or rear setback on an impervious surface and served by a paved driveway. Such parking must be screened from the street and adjoining properties by a 6’ sight obscuring fence or hedge.
