Overall needs regarding social protection statistics Overall increasing needs for monitoring tools following policy developments: More issues to be monitored Enhanced quality requirements Regarding ESSPROS: Benefit recipients: increasing need related to benchmarking Timeliness Remains an issue for social protection expenditure data Is also an issue regarding benefit recipients Overall need for more integrated monitoring: enhancing links between ESSPROS and National Accounts (and micro-data). Clearer identification of long-term care function

3. Specific needs for more timely Social Protection data Catch new developments and their impact at an early stage (cf. 2008- 2009 crisis) Allow for more integrated assessment of: social and economic developments social outcomes and social policy inputs (taking account improvements in timeliness of social outcomes (including flash estimates)
