Kangaroo Nutrition Initiate breastfeeding within 1 hour of birth and subsequently exclusively breastfeed for first 6 months of life. WHO recommendation for feeding newborns Mothers breastmilk Donated human milk Preterm breastmilk substitute Term breastmilk substitute

Kangaroo mother care The growth objective is a weight gain at least as significant as that of the intrauterine growth (15 g/kg/day until term). Assess ability to breastfeed if unable to determine to feed by cup or nasogastric tube. Practice non-nutritive suckling to prepare for transition to breastfeeding. Monitor weights daily.
