Shorter internships that fit around my other commitments My borrowed library books are automatically renewed I can meet graduate employers right on campus

Note-taking (e.g. for ENG2001) Ever wondered what we do with your feedback? Here are some examples of how your feedback has led to improve within BA English: ENG2000 - Less feedback in class for portfolio tasks and more new content to be covered instead More new content will be introduced, including sessions with guest tutors (e.g. on 1st February 2019). Students can get tutor feedback on their tasks at one-to-one tutorials. Note-taking (e.g. for ENG2001) We distributed the small books on 'Reading and Making Notes' to all ENG2001 and ENG2005 students. Other students can also get these free small books - please email Anna. The Learning Enhancement Team and our Graduate Academic Assistants can also help you develop your note-taking skills.

Materials on My Learning Ever wondered what we do with your feedback? Here are some examples of how your feedback has led to improve within BA English: Materials on My Learning There are good pedagogical reasons for not uploading materials before a class. All learning materials will be uploaded on My Learning within two working day of the class. All inaccuracies with on-line reading lists will be amended. The subject librarians can offer support on how to use reading lists. Please ask for help. A list of films, including links to BoB, will be uploaded on the ENG2003 My Learning page.

Ever wondered what we do with your feedback? Here are some examples of how your feedback has led to improve within BA ENGLISH: Preparation for careers in teaching BA English students worked with and mentored students from Haringey Sixth Form College and together produced the very successful magazine ‘Haringey Unchained’. Following BA English students’ suggestions, opportunities for work placement in English teaching have been embedded to two third year modules in BA English.

Ever wondered what we do with your feedback? Here are some examples of how your feedback has led to improve within BA English: Being part of a learning community BA English students wanted to be an integral part of the learning community at Middlesex University. The biweekly Friday ‘Language & Communication Research Seminars’ allow all BA English students to come together and exchange ideas with students, staff and researchers from across the university and beyond. New online course to help you with academic integrity Ever wondered what we do with your feedback? Here are some examples of how your feedback has led to improve your experience and that of future students across the university: New online course to help you with academic integrity — The MDXSU Advice Service received feedback that many of you didn’t understand the regulations around copying, plagiarism and academic misconduct. — The University now has an online course for you to learn about academic integrity, which you can complete through MyLearning. Introduction of short, intensive internships and work experience days — Many of you said to the employability team that you have outside commitments, so can’t take up placements. — The Employability Service are introducing flexible, work-based activities that will include short intensive internships and experience days.

More graduate employers coming to campus Ever wondered what we do with your feedback? Here are some examples of how your feedback has led to improve your experience and that of future students: More graduate employers coming to campus —Many of you stated that you want more opportunities to meet employers and build your networks. —MDXworks are now organising a number of events throughout the year, where you can meet employers on campus. These are in addition to the Gradstock event, which takes place in May each year. Food outlets now have longer opening hours —Following feedback from MDXSU on opening hours, Chartwells have revised their food outlet opening hours. Since the beginning of the term, Broosters, Library Circle Café (Costa) and Costcutter are now open until 8pm. — The Quad Costa is open until 7pm and Subway & Grove Coffee Bar are open until 6pm during term time so you can find something to eat throughout the entire day.

Dedicated Graduate Employability Advisers for each Faculty Ever wondered what we do with your feedback? Here are some examples of how your feedback has led to improve your experience and that of future students: Dedicated Graduate Employability Advisers for each Faculty — Responding to your calls for increased access to our Employability Advisers on campus, this term we have extended our service and recruited a further 4 full-time advisers: one additional for each Faculty. — In addition - we have increased the provision for bookable appointments with Advisers to ensure that you get 1:1 support, tailored to your exact needs. Borrowed library books are now automatically renewed — Library Search, the new Library Management System, launched in autumn 2018. It includes a new feature which means that you no longer need to renew your books: Library Search will do it for you. — This is one less thing to remember and will reduce the likelihood of you being fined for returning books late.

New microwaves in CG42, free for you to use Ever wondered what we do with your feedback? Here are some examples of how your feedback has led to improve your experience and that of future students: New microwaves in CG42, free for you to use — MDXSU regularly receives feedback from many of you regarding the need for more microwaves on campus so that you can bring food from home to heat up. — There is now a room in the College Building – CG42 – which contains four more microwaves, designated for certain diets; including vegetarian and vegan meals, and also ones for halal and kosher foods. Reduced plastic waste on campus — Many of you have said that you want to reduce the use of plastic on campus. So we have made sure that all catering outlets on campus now have reusable coffee cups for sale. —Chartwells have stopped providing plastic straws and have introduced product ranges with alternative packaging such as CanO Water.

Changes to the Catering provision on campus Ever wondered what we do with your feedback? Here are some examples of how your feedback has led to improve your experience and that of future students: Changes to the Catering provision on campus — Our contract with our campus catering provider will finish at the end of this academic year and we are in the process of agreeing the next supplier. Over the last year, we have been gathering your feedback around what you want in terms of food and drink on campus. — All of your feedback will help ensure that we can deliver the best possible catering service and provision. The Students’ Union are closely involved in this process.

Changes to the buildings and facilities Ever wondered what we do with your feedback? Here are some examples of how your feedback has led to improve your experience and that of future students: Changes to the buildings and facilities — We have continued to develop learning and social spaces; including the Vine building to allow more collaborative learning. — We are exploring ways to enable you to use classrooms as additional study spaces when they not being used for teaching. This is in response to your feedback about wanting more independent study spaces. — We’ve continued to invest in new technology within classrooms to innovate your learning experience. This includes allowing information sharing through mobile phones and in-class polling software for some rooms.

Changes to the timetabling process Ever wondered what we do with your feedback? Here are some examples of how your feedback has led to improve your experience and that of future students: Changes to the timetabling process — Following requests from many of you to have easier access to your timetables, we integrated these last year into MDXapp. We’re continuously working so that more of you can use MDXapp to see your schedule. — We have also built in an automatic process, so that you’ll be contacted by email if there is a change to your timetable. — We are changing our process for creating the timetable each year, so that you can have access to your timetable at an earlier date. We know that this is very important to you, so that you can plan effectively.
