I listen to the dialogue and answer the questions Liz : what are you doing grandma? Grandma: I am reading a diary Liz: is it yours? Grandma: No , it is not. It is your grandpa’s diary. He wrote it a long time ago . he spoke about those happy days when we started our life together Liz: Is he writing his diaries now? Grandma: No, dear. He stopped doing this four years ago. You know ,he is ill , he can’t write. Liz : I’d like to read it grandma? Grandma: Yes , you can. It is about old days life, it may help you in your project. Liz: thanks grandma.

Questions Who wrote the diary? How long ago did he write it ? Did he speak about unhappy days? How long ago did he stop writing his diary?

Answers The grandpa wrote the diary. He wrote it long time ago. No, he didn’t. He stopped writing four years ago.

Simple past tense (review) To talk about past events or activities, I use the simple past Regular verbs: v stem+ed/d Iregular verbs: each irreguler verb has its own past tense and past particple forms( list)

Past simple Negative form S+didn’t + v stem… No, S +didn’t( short nswers) Affirmative form S +verb (simple past) +…… Yes , S +did (short answers) Interrogative for Did+ S+V stem………..?

Simple past with « ago » 1)I use the simple past time marker « ago » preceded by words indicating a period of time « year, day, week, month……….. » Example: I went to primary school 3years ago.

2) To ask questions with the time marker « ago » I use the question words « how long ago » How long ago + did + S + verb stem…….? Example How long ago did you come to London? I came to London four days ago.
