FIGURE 1 (A) A sagittal T2-weighted MR image obtained before treatment shows two major fibroids (F1 and F2). F1 is larger and superior to F2. F1 also has a significant submucosal component and indents the cavity, as seen here. The combination of the two fibroids caused an S-shaped configuration of the endometrial cavity (EC) (arrows), so that the cervix and fundal portion of the cavity are seen in this plane, but the lower uterine segment is not. (B) The coronal T2-weighted pretreatment image shows that F1 and F2 are to the left of the endometrial cavity, and skew it to the right. (C) One year after treatment with MRgFUS, the sagittal T2-weighted image demonstrates that both F1 and F2 have decreased in size, although F1 decreased more. But most remarkable is the repositioning of the endometrial cavity, because of the shrinkage of F1. The endometrial cavity can now be visualized in its entirety in the same plane.
