(during faculty institute) POVERTY SIMULATION DATE: Friday, August 18, 2017 (during faculty institute) TIME: 9:00am – 1:00pm LOCATION: Johnson Gym The Community Action Poverty Simulation (CAPS) is a unique tool that can educate everyone, from policy makers to local community leaders, and university professors about the day-to-day realities and stress of life in poverty. Join us for this special faculty institute option! The simulation experience will fulfill the University’s expectation for cultural competence training. Simulation Goals:  Raise awareness of the realities of poverty  Build skills  Break down stereotypes  Increase cultural competence  Identify opportunities for advocacy  Improve peer/workplace culture​ For more information contact Prof. Twyla E.
