Arrival Routine Children come into school at 8.40am, please encourage them to come in by themselves as soon as possible. We close the door at 8.45am and school is then accessed via the main reception. We actively encourage them to come in independently and put their own belongings away. As children enter the class they organise their bags, water bottles, book bags and coats and their first activity is already set up, e.g. handwriting, reading or a challenge activity. EYFS Leaflet.

Dance/Dough Disco is on Monday mornings and Multiskills PE is on Thursdays after lunch, Break time Getting ready to go home children are dismissed via cloakroom door. Please wait to the left of the door outside our classroom windows. Fruit and milk I walk chn down to the hall for lunch Walked back by older chn Supervised at lunchtimes

Reading Reading is taught through guided reading sessions and within our phonics lessons. They have a reading book for reading at home each night. Books are changed 3 times a week, please write in the diary when they have read at home with you so books can be changed. Literacy Volunteers and Teaching staff listen to individual readers. Any reading done at home should be recorded – even if it is just a smiley face and the date. A few minutes of reading each night has a huge impact on your child’s progress. Reading mornings where you can join us in the classroom will alternate termly between Tuesdays and Thursday from 8.40am to 8.55am.

What you can do to support Clearly label all uniform and PE kit. Lost sweatshirts can be very difficult to rehome when there is no name and all the same size. Clarks” shoes all look the same on the floor in the cloakroom so please label them We have specialist PE providers who teach multisports, dance and dough disco. PE kits should include an indoor kit ( T shirt, shorts and plimsoles). Outdoor Kit (T shirt, Tracksuit and trainers). PE kits are kept in school for the half term Only water in water bottles please, no juice or squash. Independence is key and encouraged, but help is at hand if there are any problems with changing for PE. Established bedtime routines as children will be very tired. A large step up from Reception.

Classroom Incentives Positive behaviour across the school is very important and is encouraged in each classroom and around school. Peacock points Rainbow reward system Gold Stars ……a dip in the Treasure Box.

Family Sent home on a Wednesday, returned for the following Wednesday. A lovely way to encourage your child to share important or special items with the class to discuss, photos, mementos, favourite toy, pictures of pets. Keeping in touch:- Seesaw….QR code Classroom Notices Letters in book bags!! Texts Key Events:- Year 1 Phonics screening check Year 1 Easter concert

Volunteering Do you have any free time? Could you commit to helping in your child’ class every week? Teachers are looking for help with reading, phonics, administration and class preparation. Maybe you have skills that could be helpful in class? Please speak to me at the end if you can come in during the week. Will need a DBS check from the office.

Finally! Class 4 has an open door policy. Thank you for listening!
