The beginning… Established in Sykkylven in 1934 by Jens Ekornes. The factory had only 3 employees and some machines from Germany when they first started. At the beginning they only produced springs for mattresses, but not long after they also started producing mattresses.

…Till now Ekornes of nowadays has 1546 employees The name Stressless® is registered I more than 40 countries This international company has a turnover of NOK 2.261,6 million 94,5% of all the products are exported

Stressless The first Stressless were introduced to the Norwegian market in 1971. It became a huge success for Ekornes, and the chair is sold all over the world. During the years, the stressless has been modernised and altered.

The Factories… The old factory It started with a small building, and only 3 Employes Today Ekornes has 5 factories in Norway and offices all around the world.
