Summary of Evidence/Reason for Referral Unit 4 : Critical and Contextual awareness in Creative Media Production Assessor: Shelina Mawani-Markin Assessment & Grading Recording Sheet To achieve a Pass grade the learner must achieve all of the following criteria; AAA Student name: Hope Beedham Assessment Criteria for PASS R= Referral, S = satisfactory, HS = High Standard, VHS = Very High Standard R S HS VHS Summary of Evidence/Reason for Referral 1.1 Compare a range of critical perspectives that influence the analysis of creative media production activities.         x Blog post: Ethics in Journalism Blog post: News Values Blog post: Journalism Formats Blog post: Journalism Genres Blog post: Journalism & Social Media 1.2 Apply knowledge of critical perspectives that influence the analysis of creative media production activities.  1.3 Apply knowledge and understanding of critical perspectives to support own practice. 2.1 Critically compare a range of contexts within which creative media technology and production are situated.  2.2 Apply an understanding of a range of contextual parameters to support own creative development.  Ethics in Journalism report – nice clear introduction Hope. You have explained Defamation Law and Copyright Law very well. Use paragraphing next time to separate points e.g. a separate paragraph on each law. You have explained the role of IPSO and the content of the Editors' Code clearly and concisely. It is a shame that you did not make more use of your media regulation notes.  We had, in class, discussed various scenarios and identified which clauses from the Editor's Code would have been relevant. Unfortunately, you have not explained the role of IMPRESS. It would have been good to include links to the IPSO Editor's Code and the IMPRESS Standards Code, and to any online sources used to find examples of cases etc. You have identified Copyright law as one that could potentially impact on your FMP. Well done. Unfortunately, you have not included a discussion about social media – the issues and how the government is planning to introduce further regulation of social media. Your News Values post demonstrated a good understanding of the topic. You have critically evaluated the two theories we studied and have applied and evaluated well. These are Merit level skills. So, overall Hope, good work. You need to do the following to meet your target grade of Distinction. Conduct independent work, and critically evaluate thoroughly. Also it is very important to ensure that you have met the brief.  Has the student passed the Unit?
