Lab to Land Initiative Meghalaya

100% achievement of Rural Sector Programmes Objective People Creating awareness CB & T Sectors and Departments Convergence 100% achievement of Rural Sector Programmes The major focus and objective of the Lab to Land Initiative is to bring about 100 % success in delivery of the rural Sector Programmes in a selected block through awareness creation, Capacity building and Training of all stakeholders, involvement of different sectors and departments and convergence of efforts and resources.

Implementation Umsning Block was selected with approval of the State Government State, District and Block Level Core Committees notified Meetings of the District and Block Level Core Committees held on 26 May and 25 February 2011 respectively SIRD is the nodal agency DC, Director SIRD, Nodal Officer SIRD and BDO coordinating implementation

Training Trained 15 Master Trainers Master Trainers conducted 2 rounds of training 1st Round 24 Training programmes 968 participants 2nd Round 24 training programmes 962 participants Participants included VEC members and Volunteers Taken up under supervision of BDO and SIRD Faculty Training Needs Analysis in progress CBT in final stage of preparation The implementation of Lab to Land in Umsning Block started the selection of 15 Master Trainers during November 2010. The Master Trainers were given intensive training of ten days during December 2010. Thereafter the preparation of training modules and material was taken up and the first training at the field level was conducted in February 2011. During March 2011 the first round of training was carried out by the Master Trainers under the supervision of the BDO and Faculty members of SIRD.. During the first round 24 programmes of 3 days duration were conducted at 24 centres benefiting 968 participants that comprise of the Village Employment Council Members the village leaders and volunteers. The 2nd Round of training was carried out in April 2011 covering 962 participants. The Training Needs Analysis is in progress and is expected to be completed within July 2011. The preparation of Computer Based Tutorials in near completion on three topics.

Bharat Nirman Volunteers BNV selected by the villages 560 volunteers enlisted 226 Anganwadi and 238 ASHA workers to be included as volunteers BDO to work out incentives for volunteers Tentative Calendar for training BNVs chalked out With respect to the selection and enrolment of BN Volunteers the BDO had instructed the villages to identify 4 youths per village and till date 560 volunteers have been enlisted. Further during the District level meeting it was decided that the 226 Anganwadi and 238 ASHA workers functioning within the Block should also be included as volunteers. The Deputy Commissioner had also instructed the BDO to devise ways and means to provide incentives for the Volunteers so as to enhance their performance. A tentative calendar for training the Volunteers has been drawn up and would be started during the second week of July 2011. The duration of the training would be of 6 days.

Village Level Planning To be taken up in collaboration with MRDS To involve Master Trainers and Volunteers To commence in July 2011 Holistic village plans would be developed Focus on convergence As for Village Planning it was felt that the Master Trainers would coordinate the exercise along with the volunteers under the guidance of MRDS and SIRD. The exercise is scheduled to start during the 3rd week of July 2011.
