UVIS TEAM MEETING OPERATIONS UPDATE 06/27/11 UVIS TEAM MEETING OPERATIONS UPDATE

UVIS TEAM MEETING OPERATIONS UPDATE Instrument Status On/Off Cycle: 28. None since last meeting. Hours On: ~94,500 hours. Longest continuous operations: 9/11/2007 – 11/1/2010. HDAC Filament Modulation: Filament 1: 141.28 hours (H cell), 117.28 (D cell). Filament 2: 12.22 hours both H cell and D cell Last: In S68 during T77 (H cell and D cell). Next: In S70 during T78 (H cell and D cell). 06/27/11 UVIS TEAM MEETING OPERATIONS UPDATE

Significant Data Issues UVIS_145SA_COMPSIT006_CIRS Data return: 56% - DSS14 problem S67 UVIS_146SA_EUVFUV003_PRIME Data return: 72% - Station problem S68 No significant data issue except for some IPHSURVEY As of last week 06/27/11 UVIS TEAM MEETING OPERATIONS UPDATE

UVIS TEAM MEETING OPERATIONS UPDATE First Time Events No First Time Event Upcoming: The XXM opmode starting S71. UVIS opmode are now OFF SLEEP (6.6 W) DOWNLINK (new, 7.1 W) NO_HDAC (new, 9.4 W) ON (14.6 W) 06/27/11 UVIS TEAM MEETING OPERATIONS UPDATE

UVIS TEAM MEETING OPERATIONS UPDATE Rbot: Workload Impact The impact of Rbot on the ops team workload is highly variable: S68: 0 out of 10 designs S69: 1 out of 14 designs S70: 0 out of 19 designs S71: Don’t know yet. The up-front job done by SP and the lowering of the keep-out values (to +/- 300 rpm starting S67) helps a lot. 06/27/11 UVIS TEAM MEETING OPERATIONS UPDATE

UVIS TEAM MEETING OPERATIONS UPDATE Major Local Issues Uplink side: None Downlink side: Problem processing large files generated by long (32 hours) system scans. We have a workaround 06/27/11 UVIS TEAM MEETING OPERATIONS UPDATE

Action Items from Last Meeting 06/27/11 UVIS TEAM MEETING OPERATIONS UPDATE

UVIS TEAM MEETING OPERATIONS UPDATE Action Item #1: E15 Setup 06/27/11 UVIS TEAM MEETING OPERATIONS UPDATE

UVIS TEAM MEETING OPERATIONS UPDATE Action Item #1: E15 Setup We have the same geometry in s69 doy 213 (Rhea occultation) First taking one full detector image Then taking data with best guess 2 6-pixels window around the stars Data should on the ground doy 214 late or doy 217 early am. S70 IEBs are due doy 217 – Gives us an opportunity to tweak the setup. 06/27/11 UVIS TEAM MEETING OPERATIONS UPDATE

Action Item #2: Spectral Resolution in Aurora Scan Issue: The spectral binning is 32 when we scan for UVIS (rate is 0.06 mllrd/s. Integration time is 8 sec. Wayne wants no spatial binning) If the Z axis is perpendicular to the equator (scan W-E) we generally can limit the spatial window to cover the +/- 55 deg lat to limb region. 06/27/11 UVIS TEAM MEETING OPERATIONS UPDATE

Action Item #2: Spectral Resolution in Aurora Scan If the Z axis is parallel to the equator (scan N-S) it is generally not possible to reduce the spatial window size unless we design the pointing with multiple overlapping scans. More complex design Issue with scan duration We have not try that yet. 06/27/11 UVIS TEAM MEETING OPERATIONS UPDATE

Action Item #3: HSP maintenance At Bill’s request we are now turning on the HSP HVPS for 24 hours every 3 months or so (if dark sky pointing available) S67 – doy 113 S68 - doy 182 S69 - doy 240 S70 - scheduled for doy 318 06/27/11 UVIS TEAM MEETING OPERATIONS UPDATE

UVIS TEAM MEETING OPERATIONS UPDATE Notes and Reminders Use UVIS_SOLAR_OFF to Sun in CIMS for all solar occultation instead of ISS_NAC to Sun (-20.0, 0.0, -0.11 deg) offset. Before requesting sponge bits let us know what you want as we may have a good understanding of instrument SSR loading. The list of ring occultations that contain an atmospheric occultation is on the team web site at http://lasp.colorado.edu/cassini/team-site/archive/docs/pdf/Atmospheric_Occ.pdf The list of all the tour calibrations is on the team web site at http://lasp.colorado.edu/cassini/team-site/archive/docs/pdf/UVIS_Tour_Calibration.pdf The UVIS PEFs are on the team web site at http://lasp.colorado.edu/cassini/team-site/operations_planning/planning_info/ 06/27/11 UVIS TEAM MEETING OPERATIONS UPDATE
