Animal Classifications Science Unit 6th Grade Jeffrey Miele

Objectives Students will able to classify different animals Students will understand the difference between invertebrates and vertebrates Students will be able to list three types of invertebrates and vertebrates

Animal Classification The Animal Kingdom is divided into two main groups: Vertebrates-Animals with a backbone and Invertebrates-Animals without a backbone

Vertebrates The animals with backbones are divided into five more groups: Mammals Birds Reptiles Amphibians Fish

Invertebrates *Animals without a backbone *Most animals are invertebrates *There are many more types of invertebrates than vertebrates
