Goal Setting Goals are specific I will increase my typing speed by 10 words a minute A goal is not a wish “I wish I could sleep more” is a wish “I am going to get 8 hours of sleep” is a goal A goal requires a plan and steps Ex: I will spend 60 minutes a day working on my book Goals need to be realistic but challenging Ex: bringing up GPA from a 2.0 to a 3.0 Goals need a time frame Ex: “I will be able to bench 200 lbs. in 6 months”
GPA G: describe your Goal as specifically as possible P: Come up with a Plan to accomplish it A: Come up with Action steps to achieve your goal Be specific with your action steps Indicate if it’s a short, mid-range, or long-range goal
Time Frame Short-Range is less than a year Mid-Range is 1-3 years In 6 months I will shoot 80% from the free throw line Mid-Range is 1-3 years I will earn my driver’s license when I turn 16 Long-Range is anything over 3 years I will graduate HS with a 3.25 GPA
