I have four rules in my classroom that I expect my students to follow: Classroom Rules I have four rules in my classroom that I expect my students to follow: Be RESPECTFUL Be Responsible Be Honest Be Kind

Fourth Grade Student Expectations Come to school on time, prepared for learning. BE NICE!  Class work must be completed on time and done neatly. Be prepared for all your classes everyday (planner, text books, folders, pencils, homework, etc.). Be on your best behavior when you are not with your homeroom teacher. (Math, Art, Gym, Library, Music, Lunch, etc.) Homework should be completed every night. Planner AND AR Folder must be signed by a parent. Every test must be signed by a parent. Bring a written excuse from home when you are absent from school. Desk area must be kept neat and clean.

Fourth Grade Parent Expectations Bring your child to school on time. Please check your child’s homework every night to be sure it’s completed neatly and correctly and please sign their Planner and AR Folder. Go through your child’s Communication Folder (Take Home Folder) for letters or announcements and sign and return to school if needed. Empty the Keep at Home side every night. Feel free to communicate anytime you have a question or concern through emails, phone calls, conferences, or notes. Make sure your child has appropriate supplies at home to complete homework. (pencils, dictionary, crayons, etc.) Students are allowed to bring a water bottle to school. A weekly newsletter will be sent home on Monday through email.

Switching Classrooms We switch classes everyday for 50 minutes. Ms. Donovan – Social Studies Ms. Capal- Science Students are required to carry their materials (including homework) to each subject area. This helps to prepare students for 5th grade, middle school, and high school.

Homework Log When students have all of their homework completed, they will receive a “Daly Dollar” . At the end of the month, the students may use their money at my monthly “Daly” auction! When homework is not finished or not turned in on time, students will be asked to sign the Homework Log and give back a Daly Dollar. If a student signs the log three times, a note will be sent home to parents. Homework Log Assignment Date

Language Arts Harcourt Reading A new story each week Writing – Journals, Open Response, Portfolio, etc. TEST (AR and Unit Test) Spelling TEST on Friday Vocabulary Vocabulary taken from our stories. Tested each week on the 10 words. Grammar Cumulative Review Quiz each week and test. Throughout the year we will also add novels and Junior Great Book activities.

Please be sure to initial your child’s reading log every night. Accelerated Reader The Accelerated Reader Program is now a part of each students reading grade. I will provide independent reading time during class every day, and their 15 -20 minutes of reading at home every night should be with an AR book. The time spent reading each night at home may have to be adjusted according to your child’s reading level and their AR goal. Please be sure to initial your child’s reading log every night. During each grading period, the students will be expected to reach a goal of 25 A.R. points. Students must read books within their reading range which is written inside their AR folder. The books in the library are color-coded based on reading level. The books in my classroom have the reading level written inside.
