Safety requirements for predisposal management Improvement of the regulatory framework in the field of radioactive waste and decommissioning  ID 69 D.M. Dogaru National Commission for Nuclear Activities Control, 14 Libertatii Blvd, 5 Bucharest, Romania, 050206   The paper describes the content of regulations on predisposal, disposal, decommissioning and natural sources as well as the content of regulatory review methodologies developed by CNCAN as regulatory authority. Safety requirements for predisposal management This regulation contains safety requirements as well as licensing requirements for predisposal management of radioactive waste, disused radioactive sources and spent nuclear fuel. Safety requirements for disposal This regulation contains safety requirements as well as licensing requirements for disposal of radioactive waste. Safety requirements for decommissioning The safety and licensing requirements on decommissioning cover both nuclear and radiological facilities. Safety requirements for natural sources This regulation contains safety requirements as well as licensing requirements for activities involving natural sources. The regulation describes both existing exposure situations and planned exposure situations associated with natural sources. Regulatory review methodologies The methodologies describe the regulatory review and assessment process for authorization of predisposal, disposal, decommissioning and natural sources activities and facilities. The methodologies describe the regulatory review process of an application and associated technical documentation. They describe the criteria for decision making for authorization of these activities and facilities.
