Kairos Ministry and Spiritual Gifts Presented by: Sally Sprague Delmas “Woodie” Wood

“Charismata” Spiritual gifts from God. Manifestations of God’s favor in powers, abilities or capacities which enable the Christian to serve effectively.

Key Biblical Passages re: gifts I Corinthians 12: 4-11 Romans 12:3-8 Ephesians 4:11-13 I Corinthians 12:28

I Corinthians 12:8-10 list of gifts Word of wisdom Word of knowledge Faith Healing Miracles Prophecy Distinguishing between spirits Tongues 9. lnterpretation of Tongues

Romans 12:6-8 Prophecy Serving Teaching Exhortation Giving Leadership Mercy

We are members of one body with many parts “We, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another”. Paul, Romans 12:5

Gifts are given to all believers by God “Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit, and there are varieties of services, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone…All these are activated by one and the same Spirit, who allots to each one individually just as the Spirit chooses”. I Cor 12:4-6,11

The gifts are designed to build effectiveness and unity in the body of Christ “To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good” I Cor 12:7

None of us possess them all and they can change and develop Gifts produce among members of the body an interdependence on each other. I Cor 12:14-31

Spiritual gifts are not the same thing as fruit of the Spirit, natural abilities, or spiritual maturity.

Spiritual gifts are not the same as natural talents, but they may be related. “All that we have comes from God” I Cor 4:7

God intends that the ministry of the church (us) be accomplished through spiritual gifts. “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and samria, and to the ends of the earth” Acts 1:8

The gifts are to be used, the gifts are to be exercised. “Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them”. I Cor 12:4

Using the spiritual gifts our volunteers possess enables the Kairos ministry to work to our fullest potential!

Understanding the gifts and their characteristics Gifts are many! We will be focusing on the gifts of serving in the Kairos community.
