Windows 10: What does it change? Nothing! In reality eight Windows 10 versions: 1507 1511 1607 1703 1709 1803 1809 1903 There will always be: Old versions (not supported), Old versions (still supported), The current version (in prod.) and the future version. And the future version may not always be compatible for a software -> DANGER (There is need to do test with the future version)

How to get Windows 10 installed: Upgrade Full installation Fast (1H) Prior issue are not migrated User find back previous settings Clean install -> more space Compatibility issue with specific software Need backup (specially for supported computer) Compatibility issue with specific hardware Need complete profile configuration (software, email, printers etc..)

How to get Windows 10 installed: Currently upgrade disabled if CATIA detected! Why? Old problem of data redirection on computers «locally managed» (supported) -> If you don’t save your data on ALL the «locally managed» you have worked on Definitive data loss Solution: Migrate data to CernBox

CernBox Migration (The cloud storage solution from CERN): https://cernbox.web.cern.ch Everyone will migrate from DFS to CernBox (not only Catia users) Problem concerns 341 Users on 85 computers We can find 40 user profiles There is a «nice» mix between the local data (C:) or DFS (Network) -> Migration to CernBox (June-Juily): Local data will be copied to CernBox in folders that will have the names of the machines Like this, no data will be lost, it will be enough for the user to sort if necessary. All this is prepared by IT and more particularly V. Bippus and A. Smyrnakis -> we will try to organize a presentation by them

Conclusion: You are not alone. - We (CAD support & IT) prepare tools for you. You have the choice. - You can migrate when you want (but at your own risk). If you’re following our recommendations, we will: 1. Migrate all CATIA users on CernBox (because data are the most important thing) 2. Migrate the design offices on Windows 10 (by recommending the full reinstallation for designers). 3. «Standard» user can ask for a upgrade («Standard» user means a user who is not a designer or does not have a CAD computer)
