CHILDREN DEVELOPMENT – IN CONCERN OF CHILDREN DEVELOPMENT – PROJECTS DONE IN PRIMARY SCHOOL IN TOSZEK

offer and get funds for school equipment. There were many projects in our school in last few years. Their aim was to extend educational offer and get funds for school equipment.

1. Projekt EFS POKL 9.1.2. From September 2010 to July 2011 we did project called "Good start - good future - equalization of educational chances of kids and teenagers from Toszek county". 160 kids took a part in this project. All activities were very attractive for kids, but the favourite ones were trips. There were many courses like: A. Workshops of digital photography and IT processing B. Workshops of regional and cultural heritage C. Drama workshop D. Journalist workshop E. Preventive activities F. Individual specific psychological-pedagogic activities

A. Workshops of digital photography and IT processing Students learnt about photography. They took a part in open-air workshops and they look for interesting objects worth to shoot. Then they edited these photos in our school IT classroom using Corel Photo Paint. They could learn that the work with photography editor is really fascinating adventure.

B. Workshops of regional and cultural heritage On this workshops we could use whiteboard, laptop and projector. We bought regional costumes and books about regional issues. We could also print exercise books about regional education created by our teachers few years ago. The most important part of these workshops were trips to the most attractive places in our region. We went to Opole, Wrocław, Katowice, Gliwice, Wisła, Bytom, Ustroń, Mysłowice, Tarnowskie Góry.

C. Drama workshop These workshops were very successful for our students. There were 5 performances practised on these workshops and two of them were rewarded the first place in a competition „Bery and bojki śląskie”. Individual students won as well. They could show the beauty of national and regional language. The most famous performance was a music fairy tale „Cinderella”. These workshops were not the only fun and dance, but also lessons about movement, singing, speaking, diction, text interpretation. Declamation contest was organised between the participants.

D. Journalist workshops Journalist workshops were based on writing articles for school newspaper and publishing this newspaper. First, students collected materials for atricles. Then, they visited professional editor of „Nowiny Gliwickie” and looked at other journalists’ work. Finally, the participants published several numbers of school magazine with articles about current problems and information.

E – Preventive activities Preventive activities were divided in 3 groups for 15 participants. Every week they took a part in sport and recreative activities. They also disccused about addictions’ prevention and practised first aid. Once a month students went for trips to encourage themselves for different ways of phisical activities. So, they went swimming, skating, skiing. They visited Wisła, Koniaków, Ogrodzieniec, Olsztyn near Częstochowa. There were 2 family fests for students and their families where they could enrich their knowledge about first aid and have a fun with their relatives during the free time.

F. Individual specific psychological-pedagogic activities Nowadays there are more and more children who need a help for specialists. Thanks to European funds our students could get this help in our school. They had individual activities to help them break the barriers, deal with problems and to exist in school life.

COMENIUS From September 2011 we are in Comenius project "The language of art" with foreign partners from Lithuania, Latvia, Romania and Turkey. Students and teachers can meet foreign schools, educational and local authorities, countries, culture and traditions. Our children have attended lessons in foreign schools and our teachers have leaded lessons there. The most important advantage of this project is the possibility to improve English during visits. The visits in Poland were chances to show our hospitality, culture, traditions and many interesting places. Our teachers and students have experienced great hospitality of our partners.

RADOSNA SZKOŁA Happy school Children need proper doze of physical activity for their development. It helps to stimulate brain as well. Our school was involved in a project which aim was to create a possibility for physical development of our students. We were given colourful blocks which are used in different way during PE.

School without violence The aim of this programme is to prevent the violence in Polish schools by increasing the awareness of this problem, changing the attitudes towards violence, providing specific support and tools to schools to fight this problem. There were organized speeches and meetings with policemen for children, meetings with psychologist for parents and students. There were many posters created as a result of some art competitions.

SZKOŁA Z KLASĄ The action started by Gazeta Wyborcza and Civil Education Center in 2002 for primary, secondary and high schools. The aim was to introduce new way of thinking about education, to promote modern and efficient education, to increase its level and influence on upbringing, and improve cooperation between schools and local environment. This programme was based on six rules of clever school, friendly to students, teachers and parents. There were some tasks for each of these rules. Our school won a title "Szkoła z klasą"(First grade school).

Pile of penny During the last few years our school took a part in an action "Góra grosza"(Pile of penny) which aim was to collect money of family orphanage. The action is very popular among students, teachers, parents and other workers of our school.

Gentle package Our school joined the action in 2001. The aim is to help the poorest . Every year we collect food, cosmetics, clothes, toys and books for one particular family chosen by volunteers.

Breakfast gives power Breakfast is the most important meal during the day. Thanks to it, our children have an energy for studying, concentrating and playing. It is the best start of the day. The programme is for kids from 1. to 3. class. Once a month they prepare and have varied breakfast. They learn about healthy eating and rules of table manners. On 8th November we celebrate the Day of Healthy Breakfast.

Club of Safe Winnie the Pooh The aim of this educational programme is to improve the safety of the youngest children. The programme was executed with a cooperation with Main Police Station. The programme gave the basic knowledge how to be safe at home, at school, on the street and on the playground.

In accordance to new educational basics, our teachers are in charge to diagnose kids in their ability to take school responsibilities, to make pedagogic observation, to recognize dyslexia, to introduce programme for children with difficulties, to give individual and class lessons and additional activities. Our teachers took a part in this programme - PEWNIAK- which means Positive Energy in Teaching and Active Education. Thanks to their references and skills our students had a chance for comprehensive development which will gratitude in their results and motivation. It will give the students feelings that the knowledge is a value and school is a friendly place. PEWNIAK

“First school experiences - way to the knowledge” This project was co-funded by European Union. The main aim was to introduce flexible model of education which is adopted to individual needs and abilities of students using modern methods and educational contents. What's more, the main reason for the project is to support mental, emotional, social, physical and motor development of children who start school. This project created comprehensive development of creativity, openness and interest in students.

In accordance to great interest in projects’ activities among the students, we have applied for next project for next generation of our students. In September 2013 there will be introduced new project for the youngest students connected with teaching individualization.
