Presentation transcript:

Any individual life form. Organism Any individual life form.

Life Cycle The states of life a living organisms goes through

Population The number and type of organisms in a particular area

Trait A characteristic that determines how an organism looks, acts or functions

Camouflage A defense mechanism in which an organism looks like its surrounding.

Survival Survival

Survival Advantage When certain species have a better chance to live

Ability to Survive Variations in a species may affect their ability to survive

Temperature Control The fur and sweat gland, in an organism acts as a temperature control

Size, shape, body parts Some ways body parts can be observed

Species A basic category of offspring that are able to reproduce amongst themselves

Environment All of the surrounding in which an organisms lives

Learned behavior Actions that are learned through the environment or trial and error

Parent Organism A producer of offspring

Heredity When traits are passed from parent to their offspring

Fast running bodies A specialized structure some animals have, like dear, that act as a defense mechanism

Mimicry A method of defense in which one organism looks like a more poisonous organism or dangerous one.

Same body structures In what way will an organism be like its parent. It will have the same body structures.

Defense Sharp spines, shells, and horns are types of specialized structures used for defense.

Behaviors Behaviors – the way in which on organism acts or reacts

Instincts Instincts – behaviors that are inborn or inherited from the parent organism.

Specialized Structure Body parts of an organisms

Variation 1. Differences between groups of species thriving in different Variations – parts of the world as a result of genetic mutation.

Inherited Inherited - when a trait is passed from the parent to their offspring
